-ARGOS PROMO SKETCH-
Open on a white screen. Black letters slowly, poignantly fade in.
Soft, angelic music plays.

“What is Argos?”

[5 seconds]

Cut to the PRESENTER in a sterile, white room sitting on a flimsy stool in ‘the thinker’ pose, wearing a VIVE Headset.

He slowly emerges from his pose, sitting upright on the stool at a 45° angle from the lens, ‘documentary style’.

He delivers his speech in a very pronounced cadence – he wants everyone to know how smart he is.

PRESENTER: Argos is an acronym for Argos Requires Generative Outliers. But the etymology goes deeper than that, for the word also has connotations of the ancient greek…

DIRECTOR (abrupt): Cut!

PRESNETER (astonished): What? Did you need me to take more pauses between words?

DIRECTOR: Yes! I mean no. I mean… Can we try it without the headset on?

PRESENTER (confused): Without the headset?

DIRECTOR: Yes! The audience should be able to see your face if they’re going to connect with what your saying.

PRESENTER: But how else are they going to know we’re a VR firm?

DIRECTOR: They’ll know. We can tell them later. Just trust me on this.

PRESENTER (reluctant): Okay…

Fade to white. The black letters fade in again just as before.
“What is Argos?”

Cut again to the narrator in the same room on the same stool, this time sans headset. He is at the same angle as before, and without the headset we see the side of his face at a very awkward angle.

PRESENTER: Argos is an acronym for Argos Retains Optimum Sequences. But the etymology goes deeper than that, for the word has its roots in ancient Atlantean proverbs…

DIRECTOR: Cut!

PRESENTER: Yeah, I know. It doesn’t work without the headset.

DIRECTOR: No, it works just fine. Could I ask you to tilt yourself a little more toward the lens? The way it is now, it looks like you’re talking to someone else, besides the audience.

PRESENTER: Um, yeah. Haven’t you ever seen a documentary?

DIRECTOR (coaxing): Yes, I have. We can make it documentary style; I just need you to slide a liiitle more towards the lens. Just a little.

Fade to white. The black letters fade in again just as before.
“What is Argos?”

We cut to our narrator, sitting on a stool, sans headset, at a comfortable angle.

PRESENTER: Argos is an acronym for Alternative Response Generating Operating System. But the etymology goes even deeper than that, for the word has its roots in ancient egyptian proverbs. Legends tell of a magical frog who roused machinations of the common people against the kings…

PRODUCER (Whispering to director as narrator continues in the background): Oooosh. What a day. I think we finally have a usable take…

But just then the stool snaps and the narrator falls abruptly to the floor.

-ARGOS DEMO SEGMENT-
We cut to the PRESENTER with his back to the camera, and a Vive headset on. In front of him is the green screen, which displays what he’s seeing through the headset.

The DIRECTOR provides a voice over, explaining what we’re seeing as the PRESENTER plays.

DIRECTOR: Any game enthusiast knows that the GPU of a system is the heart of what makes it great. Our program allows you to experience what a GPU can do, from the inside. A virtual control panel lets you modify time, gravity, particle strength and many other parameters for your simulation.

Attractors can be picked up and moved around, thrown, caught or placed precisely on a 3D virtual cartesian grid. It’s like a virtual chemistry set that’s super fun to play around with, while at the same time learning the fundamental nature of physics.

There’s like six gorrlian particles for you to play around with. There’s a pendulum option where you can swing around an attractor from a handle you’re holding on to. I liken it to being inside an atom.

You can select different geometrical configurations of attractors, adjust particle parameters and see from the inside how forces interact with particles in space. The HTC Vive gives us the perfect opportunity to dive into the heart of ideas, and then share them with our user.
-ARGOS PROMO PITCH-

Cut again to the narrator in the sterile room, this time on a better stool. The black letters fade in just as before:
“What is Argos?”

But this time it’s for real. The same PRESENTER now gives a speech in a direct and affable manner.

PRESENTER: At Argos, we believe that Virtual Reality is Man’s new frontier. It’s grander than exploring space – we’re exploring consciousness itself.

The World today is rigid. People’s lives have become routine. It feels as If invisible walls have been erected everywhere, telling us what we can’t do, where we can’t go, what we can’t think. People yearn for freedom, they yearn to explore, yet the modern world has lost it’s sense of adventure.

Argos seeks to revolt against the modern world. We are a startup that understands the power of Virtual Reality, and knows it’s potential to capture the imaginations of millions.

Through VR we are free from the modern world and its petty rules and mundanities. We are free to learn at our own pace. We are both teacher and student. We become the authority, the universe is manifest in front of us and we are its sole manipulator.

Virtual Reality provides the best means to master our current reality. After use of our programs, the user is stronger. Like after a refreshing night’s sleep filled with adventurous dreams, he takes off the headset and feels fully awake and refreshed. He stands tall and is ready to master the world.

Argos Script 2

Fade up from black to Pete in the thinkers pose at 20°- 45° against white with Vive Headset on. Argos Logo plate in upper right hand corner.

Fade Up 1 sec

Pause 3 sec

O.S.V.

(reverb – as if thought bubble)

What is Argos Vu?

Pete

(Auspiciously – music enters as he responds – very low volume sucession of images on photo plate)

Argos, a name that hearkens back to the Homerian Odyssey where Ancient Greek Archetypes and Platonic Solids expand consciousness to a level…

Director O.S.

Cut, no not that one, (Pete’s pose reflects 4th wall broken)
It’s number 1618 and lose the headset.

Rewind Tape sound video rewind interference 0.5sec

Same fade up from black to Pete in the thinkers pose at 20°- 45° against white without Vive Headset. Argos Logo plate in upper right hand corner.

Fade Up 1 sec

Pause 3 sec

O.S.V.

(reverb – as if thought bubble)

What is Argos Vu?

Pete

(More Conversationally – spacey backgound music tech/egyptian glyphs on photo plate)

Argos is an acronym for Argos Requires Generative Outliers with a meaning goes deeper than that, for the logo also has curious association with the ancient Egyptian concept of Point Energing Probably Entering where we can see that…

Director O.S.

No, Stop! This is getting way too esoteric. Let’s just show what it is…
Pete

(Frustrated)

What do you want me to do?

Director O.S.

Just put the headset back on and explain it.

Pete

(Relieved)

All Right. Where’d it go?

A bit of scramble to find it (1-2 sec). Pete gets handed the
headset.

Pete

Any game enthusiast knows that the GPU on a modern system is the heart of what makes gaming so great.

What we are doing is opening up a window to experience what a GPU can do from the inside.

Pete puts on headset – Transition to his view through the Vive.

Pete O.S. Naration

(Some vaporwave – music in background)

A virtual control panel lets you modify time, gravity, particle strength and many other parameters for your simulation. Attractors can be picked up and moved around, thrown, caught or placed precisely on a 3D virtual cartesian grid.

All in all, it’s kind of like a virtual reality chemistry set that’s super fun to play around with and learn the fundamental nature of physics, there’s like a gorrlian particles in there. J

There’s a pendulum/paddle option where you can swing around an attactor from a handle you’re holding on to.

It’s kind of like being inside an atom. You can select different geometrical configuarions of attracors, adjust particle parameters and see from the inside how forces interact with particles in space. It gets way meta actually.

The HTC Vive gives us the perfect opportunity to dive into the heart the ideas we are coming up with.

Think of it like a 3D visual synthesizer where you create and tweak your particle simulations then experience them from the inside.
